Award-winning author and entrepreneur Kathy Dempsey, RN, urges nurses to embrace the spirit of transformation in their work (and personal) lives.
Kathy Dempsey knows that sometimes our worst days can bring our greatest lessons. Her own worst day came during the summer of 1987, when the former ER trauma nurse was told that she may be the first healthcare worker in America to test positive for HIV due to a workplace exposure.
For months she was consumed by the devastating news, and fell into a deep depression. So she felt more than just relief when her retest results later came back negative; she felt that her whole outlook on life had changed.
