  • maxIT Healthcare joins Meditech Connect!

After our announcement regarding maxIT Healthcare’s partnership with MEDITECH Connect, we figured it would be good to sit down and interview Jack Walker, head of their MEDITECH practice, to paint a clear picture of who they are and what type of involvement they’ll have within our network.

  • The Black Sheep Project: The Development of the DR Module

“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.”

    Henry David Thoreau

    In the beginning…

At Meditech, the opportunity to be involved with the development of a new module does not come along often. The Data Repository module was unique because it was not developed from the main Development group at Meditech, but rather was inspired by the Vice President of the Service Division as a way to make the proprietary Meditech system more open. It was this fact that lead to the Data Repository (DR) module being referred to as the “Black Sheep” project.

  • Finished Training? Great, You Know Nothing!
    Life at MEDITECH, part 1

What feels now like ten million years ago, I was out of college and looking for a job in the New England area. Wanting to make my girlfriend’s dad (now my father-in-law) happy at the time, I figured I’d take a job at this company called MEDITECH. A friend of a friend had gotten me an interview and I figured, hey, it was either that or working sales for DHL–yes, DHL. Little did I know that the two years I spent there would provide experiences that would catapult my career in ways I could have never imagined. With the experiences I had of what it’s like working there, I wanted to share a peak into what MEDITECH is truly like…

  • Please consider this our formal apology…

What do we do every day as users, analysts, executives, vendors..? We learn something. Whether it’s how to troubleshoot a lab analyzer issue, a great report that you built, or even a new DTS for an issue you’ve had forever, we’re always learning something about MEDITECH software that everyone can benefit from. It’s within this idea that we’re completely redesigning how our forums function…

While we still want members to consider forums as a place to ask questions, they also serve as a daily knowledgebase where you can share any tips you learned today.

Imagine being a member of a group where you can hear about a new DTS the day it becomes available, catch tips on a Meaningful Use change that you’ve struggled with or even pass tips on vendors that have worked well for your Meditech project. We’re literally opening the door for members to contribute whatever information they find useful. I thought of this the other day and realized we were not doing our part in fostering forums for daily member experiences…hence the apology!

With that in mind, we’ll be doing what we can to match up group invitations with members backgrounds. If you have a moment, take a second to join the groups that you’re interested in contributing and following…

  • Got PDOC?
The best part of not having to plan in advance on conference topics? We can ad-lib forums as they’re needed. Around a month ago, one of our members innocently asked a question about sharing Progress Note Templates and Quick Text Dictionary entries–Physicians were asking for examples as they were going through their build. Next thing you know, members got talking and plans for an “adhoc WebEx” were started. We want to do what we can to maximize attendance for those wishing to participate in this free event. If you’re interested in sharing & learning more about PDOC standards with other members, RSVP and email your availability to inquiry@meditechconnect.com. We’ll do what we can to accommodate as many members as possible in determining when it will be scheduled between March 20th-23rd…
