Apparently MEDITECH is a topic at HISTalk today; there were three unverified submissions. Anyone know more?
From KoolAidKid: “Re: vendor market share. Numbers I’ve heard suggest that Epic gained 100 new hospital customers in the past year. Nobody else was close and GE and Meditech both had a net loss of sites.” Unverified.
From Peter the Rock: “Re: Dell Services. Has frozen all Meditech hiring for an undetermined amount of time for them to review their financial stability.” Unverified. Update: Dell says this isn’t true. I’ve offered to run their response if they want to provide one.
From Lawrencium: “Re: Siemens. They are gaining momentum, especially in small hospitals looking to replace Meditech and considering Soarian. New deals coming toward the end of this quarter and new key talent being recruited.” Unverified.

From Bill Belichick: “Re: Meditech. They will be buying out ambulatory partner LSS and will oversee future product development and business planning. I believe it will most likely be announced by Meditech following their next board meeting this month. This will get Meditech right into the ambulatory market and add much credibility to the product line with the new Meditech branding. It will likely offer customers much more competitive pricing.” Unverified, that but sounds like a good strategic move.

“Re: Meditech. On a conference call last week, they said customers will need to purchase their data repository to meet the requirement for electronic capture of quality measures. Nothing on their site, no press release. No other customers that I know have been made aware.” Unverified. I e-mailed the Meditech press contact, but haven’t heard back.

There’s a rumor from Happy Valdez at HISTalk about LSS. Apparently there were rumors at the MEDITECH CIO conference about shutting out LSS Data Systems. Another aspect of the rumor was a MEDITECH partnership with eClinicalWorks.

U.S. hospitals have a long way to go to reach the federal government’s proposed standard of entering at least 10 percent of orders electronically, according to a new report from research firm KLAS. The 2010 report finds that only 14 percent of all U.S. hospitals have achieved the expected 10 percent CPOE level required for stage 1 of meaningful use.
CPOE: Traffic Jams on the Road to Meaningful Use features data gathered from virtually every hospital in the United States (excluding military or Veterans Administration facilities) that was live with a commercial CPOE product through 2009.
According to the KLAS report, the McKesson and MEDITECH customer bases face a more challenging road, as many of those hospitals are deploying or planning to deploy significant technology upgrades to improve physician adoption. KLAS found that their clients need to roll out CPOE more than 30 times faster than they have in the past year if all are to achieve CPOE adoption before July 1, 2011. Still, both vendors did see a relatively significant increase in the number of live CPOE sites in 2009.

RUMOR: We are seeing a number of MEDITECH sites looking at LSS alternatives. Iatric Systems has two Practice Management/EMR partners- Allscripts and Aprima Medical Systems and has written interfaces to many others. Just recently MEDITECH, (instead of mandating LSS) competed against Iatric Systems (and lost) for interfaces to Allscripts.
